That's actually easy to change the part, unfortunately it requires Dealer level Detroit Diesel DiagnosticLink access to flash my old MCM values to the new MCM.

Detroit/ DaimlerChrysler will not allow simple LLC / Owner Ops to purchase Dealer Level Diagnosticlink Acess to program these modules.

MCM communicates with the 8 other computers on my truck, so if it's not programmed correctly, it don't work.

FWIW, my PTO on/off switch, is electrically controlled via the MCM to the transmission body controller. Can't just change the physical module.

    Hence, I'm stuck.

I wish we went back to days when Mechanical aptitude could fix things. My issue is I have a resistor or capacitor or bad solder joint somewhere in a sealed MCM that is replace only.

Oh. You said you had dddl. I assumed you had the same one I do. I have dealer level and can copy the program and flash on the new computer

If I were anywhere near Dallas I’d swing by and let you use it. But I’m 1300 miles away

If it wasn't sunday morning I could flash you my MCM, you could flash a reman, and overnight it to me at the hotel, and I could put it in the morning.

But you'd probably want to get paid for that effort

    Siinman Thanks this.

I will say one thing, any mechanic that comments on this thread, I'm gonna have a hard time with.

Especially when they work at a Detroit dealer and use a snap-on scan tool to read the codes on my truck, not DDDL and then tell the service writer they can't find any active codes on Friday at noon.

IH9300SBA, Siinman and Oxbow Thank this.

I appreciate the offer, but even having professional level, you still have to buy the 200$ per programming event if your not a Dealer.

    It's just such a hassle.

It's like John Deere locking out farmers.

How did you get if he couldn’t due to the manufacturer apparently not wanting people fixing their own equipment?

You can get anything. I have a guy deleting a John Deere excavator for me now. And John Deere is the worst about sharing software.

IH9300SBA, Oxbow, High Stepper and 3 others Thank this.
