Hey I hope this thread doesn't turn political. I only mentioned Mr Regan because deregulation came about under his administration.

But contradictory speaking, little bush said their isn't a middle class. And we had the redistribution of wealth to the rich under Obama. So I can't say that any Prez has helped the middle class.

google maps? why does anyone use that in a truck. i might as well delete it from my phone, i never use it. i run sygic truck GPS with all of the restrictions AND bridge clearances, even though im in a dump truck.

weight restrictions are more important to me then bridge clearances, but there still are bridges i cant go under. i set my height at 11'6" in the GPS and that gives me a good margin of error.

unless google maps comes out with a truck mode and all of the restrictions listed, i wont use it..... heck i dont even use google maps in my car much.... i put sygic in car mode if im driving my car. sygic is setup just like an expensive truck GPS. it has the speed limit listed, the current speed, over-speed alarm, ETA, how much more time to get to the destination ect ect ect. usefull information at times. a few times the boss asked me how much time i had to get where i was going. i was able to get her a really close answer.

this wasnt to push me either, i was sent to buffalo crushed stone and they close a 3pm, she just wanted to know if i was going to make it. i was able to give her an honest answer, YES.

Deregulation HAD to happen. No way around it. This nation would be 20-30 years behind where we are today GDP-wise if we were still operating under the old system and we all had to wait on "authority" to do every little piddly thing.

Reagan didn't suck the wages out of anything. Quite the contrary. Read a book that was written by true historians, not re-writers of history like are so common today.

no im not trying to take it there, just that middle class has been crushed by the various policies in the last 30 years regardless of who is the president, in my lifetime they have all sucked. i was born in 1981.

there has also been a HUGE push to get rid of unions....... good, bad, whatever. unions do negotiate wage and benefit packages, the little guy cannot stand by himself and expect a fair wage and benefits.

Swift has daycab drivers out of school. Problem is even local Cali drivers are making like 13.50 an hour. Who can live on that anywhere let alone California

my regular pay is $16 per hour, but i often get rate $21.69 per hour. last week 34 hours rate $21.69 and 10 hours at $16, except it will be 6 hours at $16 and 4 hours at $24 (overtime). since i started this job 3/4 of the hours i have worked have been rate. $13.50...... i dont think i would drive for that little. the least i have ever made in a truck is $15.50, which isnt great but its better then allot of NON-CDL jobs around here. sadly about 80% of the manufacturing jobs around here are temp to hire and pay trash ($10-11 per hour, even with minimum wage at $9.70 per hour.

case in point from middle class to no class, and the temp to hire system has done a great job at making that a reality.
