I love my current company but i see where i live becoming an issue. I moved from Michigan back to my hometown in north central Kansas. Needless to say it isn't exactly a hotbed for customers. The closest regular customers for my company are several hours from where i live. Thankfully i can take my truck home, but it's still a 4-5 hour drive every time for hometime, and that adds up to a lot of unpaid deadhead driving. That doesn't include the 2-3 hours to my closest pickup, but at least that's paid miles. It isn't my company's fault that i choose to live hours away from their main lanes.
So I'm looking for companies in my general area. I have almost 1.5 years experience, mainly hauling dry vans and reefers. Planning on getting at least my hazmat and tanker endorsements so that'll open up some more opportunities, not like there's much to start with around where i live. Looking for more of a regional gig than OTR but I'm open to anything.
What about the CDL holders out in the sticks?

I live near Salina if that helps. I've researched a few companies in the immediate area. I'm good friends with a couple guys and mechanic at a small outfit. Great people and decent equipment but they run 62 mph trucks and pay their drivers like they're stuck in 2003. Another larger outfit but they pay by the load so I'm not sure about that. I've also know of great plains trucking but they seem to mostly haul oversized farm equipment. Not really ready for that big of a job yet. I also saw some CFI trucks parked at a auto parts distribution center. Looked up online and they have a home daily account with them. Guaranteed $1,350/week but I'm kinda skeptical about working for a mega carrier again. I know Heartland bought portions of CFI, but as far as i know, CFI still kept their dedicated stuff.
That's about all i could scrounge up, mainly just from looking around town. -
