Trans Am Sucks, flat out. I just left yesterday. I was an O&O. You cant get near enough miles for what you are being charged. I was told drivers get between 2700 and 3100 miles a week. Divide that in half and that is what you get. I havent been paid in 6 weeks. I said something 3 times about needing more miles. Obviously it fell on def ears. I gave them my 2 weeks, they routed me to the Olathe yard and let me go. Any questions just ask!

They routed you to Olathe and let you go..........so, you drove your truck to the house, right ? After they let you go. And after they removed the co decals from your truck.

I was leasing. They consider that OO. I ran about 6500 miles last month. They did give me 2700 miles my last week. Problem is they run you so far into the negative money wise, they make it impossible to dig out!!!! That 2700 miles was a bone they threw me! When I told leasing I was giving them my two weeks they even told me my miles were way to low! You think? Is that how I ended up 1200 in the negative?

Why were you so much negative. We're you spending too much time at home? We're you over fueling ? We're you keeping the pedal to the floor ? We're you not maximizing your driving hours ?

It only takes about 1600 to 1700 miles to break even depending on your fuel economy. My last 3 settlements were between 750 and 1100 dollars.(take home)

If you are looking for info about companies a message board is not the place to look. The only people who post on here are disgruntled ex employees. There are a lot of factors for why some people don't make money. A few I mentioned above. You need to first decide if this career is right for you. It is a lifestyle change if this is your first trucking job. If you like to be home every week you will stay broke. The rest is just common sense.

Tractor fuel charges are what he is putting in his tractor. Fuel surcharge is money that you actually get back from that fuel purchase. Right now surcharge for TA is .45 I believe. I can't claim to completely understand all about surcharge, but then I haven't gone out of my way to understand it. I just know its one of several reimbursements. I suggest going over settlements with a finetoothed comb to make sure your hubby isn't wrongfully charged. After a couple of settlements, you'll recognize the regular things. But for example I looked this week and saw a charge that said FUEL CHEYWY for $40.13. That would have been fine except my driver hasn't been to Cheyenne since 3 weeks ago and was already charged that amount on the original settlement. A phone call to the right department turned up the news that this happened to a lot of drivers. I have yet to find out why they wont reimburse the new charge, but I'm not dropping it yet either....

Does anyone know how the fuel surcharge works? I dont understand it either lol when you TA is. 45 does that mean you only get back. 45 cents a gallon or you only pay. 45 cents a gallon. If they only pay you back .45 cents a gallon that blows if you dont get at least 2400 miles. Im lioking to lease with them and buy the truck at the end and go to landstar for a little til i can get my own authority. Helo about fuel surcharge would be greatly appreciated.

Rollin... Please do lots of reading and research BEFORE going into a lease w/ any company. There are lots of WARNINGS about leasing on this forum and on the internet. You should be a co. driver for at least a year, know the industry a little more, then make an educated decision. Otherwise, you could be taken through the wringer and lose your shirt.

Others can advise better, I only know to avoid leasing from research, not from personal experience.

I decided ima be a company driver til I save 10,000 or 15,000 then ill think about leasing. I kinda like primes lease cause you can just walk away from it if its not working out(website said that but im not sure). Most people jump into a lease with nothing in the bank and just think its going to be easy. Its probably not going to be easy even with 10,000 or 15,000 saved up but my wife has a good job so we been planning and made a budget and figured we can make it with just her income so whatever I get is going to put up for the truck or if we need extra for anything. I know its a big responsibility cause its taking on your own business but ima be ready for the challenge when it comes. I can't really speak on a lease cause I haven't done one either but if another man can do it so can I. If everybody failed the lease then the lease option probably wouldn't be around anymore.
