what are some measures I can take to stay safe in rough neighborhoods?

Does anyone carry a Walmart BB/Co2 pistol? They sell one that really looks like a Colt 1911 ACP if you don't look real close. Should be legal and while not lethal it will put the scare into someone.

Looong time ago a driver was shot in his bunk while he slept at a truck stop near here. I think it was a love triangle deal but I sleep in the top bunk just in case.

I carry a box cutter too but I fear I will have carried that darn thing my entire adult life and never needed it.

Can be illegal in some states. Appearing to threaten with a deadly weapon. I point out the Cleveland cops who shot a kid over a BB gun (or possibly a pellet gun, not sure anymore). Plus, a CO2 pistol WILL penetrate skin at close range. Potential for a fair amount of damage, plus lawsuits.

 

I'm ex law enforcement and we carried this stuff called freeze +P. It's a mix between pepper spray and tear gas. You hit someone with this stuff, it will stop them dead in their tracks. I keep my old canister with me in my vehicle and my 1911 on my hip. But since I'll be going into states where communists don't want people to protect themselves from urban thugs, I will be forced to only carry the spray and keep the weapon hidden very well in my truck. You can buy it on Amazin pretty cheap. Trust me. It works.
