Remember, what one thinks is the cream is another's sour milk.
    Each driver has different desires.
Some want to be home every night. Some it's the bennies. Yet others want simple drop and hook.
    Everyone want's money.
Not everyone lives in an area that can work for Wally World or UPS.
However, those two have great reps.
Also look at many private label companies that haul their own goods...Cardinal Health, Tyson, etc.
Again, some want long haul and OTR.
I enjoy OTR. I don't mind being out weeks at a time. Neither does my wife.
But when I was a younger man, I left line haul and OTR to go into local work so I could be home for the kids soccer games, girl scout, etc.
I eventually bought my own rig and that turned into 14 before I sold out and 'retired.'
But each of my jobs I considered 'cream'.
So ask yourself what YOU want out of a job, then start looking for a carrier.
Just because I enjoyed picking up milk from dairies doesn't mean you'll like cow poop all over your boots each day.
Pick what you want. You'll be happier.

    48Packard and U4EA Thank this.

City P&D is hard work. All touch freight and tricky urban driving situations. I'd venture to guess it wouldn't be your typical driver's cup of tea even if they got home every night.

That was the best work in the world. I wish I had 20 years of seniority so I could have still been working for YRC

They will also check that your TTR post count is substantial and the posts are substantive!

Whichever job makes you happy is the best job.
Pay the bills, home time, no home time, hourly, percentage, benefits, no bennies, 40 a week, 24 a day..combinations are endless as are people that find them acceptable.

The best jobs are the companies that you will never hear about on the internet. They also probably wouldn't hire you anyway.

AND you need to know someone there to even get them to talk to you or read your resume.
