Con-Way Truckload trucks have Jake brakes,13 speed transmissions. The red T-600's have C-15 Cats. The white T-660's have Cummins ISX and the Freightliners have Detroit DD15 engines. And all Con-Way truck load trucks have company paid XM radio's in the trucks.
What kind of trucks do the Solo over the road drivers get? I'm not to keen on the T600's. I've driven a few of the new ones for the Air Force and they are way to small to live in on a daily bases. I do like the 660's. they seem like they have plenty of room...
I drive a 2001 Sterling with no A/C, clutch that is on its last leg, leaking windshield, stripped fuel cap so I can't fill it, 7 speed, 350 Detroit, no radio at all, leaking weather strip, and it's filthy as hell (spotless inside of course) but I've only been at CNWY for over 7 years......... Oh wait, my bad, I'm just a Freight loser.. I'm not looking to "sign on" with a company so I guess I should just take my wages and shut up right..
HA! MackDaddyMark I have not heard anyone say "Oh snap" in a loong time congratulations that made my day
What would you need A/C for in a line haul day cab? Open 2 windows and drive 55. Or get one with bad weather striping and you do not even need to open them. It is not like they are sleeping in the trucks. I never had A/C in trucks I ran local. They had heat for winter, for as good as it worked. But they get the job done. That is what matters. Now in a sleeper truck I have to sleep in I would insist on A/C. But that is a totally different job.
@motocross Im trying to cut down # the amount of cussin I do so Im using different words @ChromeDome - Sorry dude. I live in the northeast 100% Humidty and 90+ temps and stop go traffic on the LIE,Cross Bronx and various other highways here Yeah I need some A/C, I was just going off of the weather im used to here up in the NYC-NJ-CT Tri State Area. And I see alot of Con-Won guys here and Im just wondering how they make it during the summer.
You make a great point... Why would any driver want A/C running Richmond, Va during the summer??? After 4 hours on the dock in August A/C is definitely not needed when hooking in 90 degree heat with 89% humidity at 4 AM.. Geez.. I should be more understanding - especially in heavy rain when the windshield is fogging up... I don't sleep in it so that's OK right??lol?? I grew up in your area but Richmond, Va isn't Erie, Pa man......
