As honorable people we want to do the right thing. There are cases where two weeks notice is the right thing to do.
    1) Would not giving notice negatively affect people you respect, had your back or you somehow feel you owe? If yes then give two weeks notice. If not hand in your keys and walk the same day.
    2) Would they give you notice before letting you go? If yes then give two weeks notice. If not hand in your keys and walk the same day.
Working for a trucking company is a business transaction. They agree to pay you to work and you agree to work for that pay. The contract renews every day till one of the parties ends the contract. Neither party owes the other anything outside the contract. If you give them two weeks notice and they have an opportunity to get another driver in that seat they will do so no matter the inconvenience to you. This is in no way personal this is simply business.

I had one employer back in the mid 90's blacklist me. However due to Indiana Laws it was lawful for them to do so verbally over the phone to any employer that I applied to who calls them by phone. I check against them by a records in writing request after denials to make sure its never in writing anywhere. If so, I got to indiana and seek damages at their court. Maybe own the whole thing lock stock and barrel.

When the 10 year passed on the employer records that B/Ling became moot. Irrevelant etc. Its been way more than that now and frankly they probably no longer exist or operate under a new name with different people. Water under the bridge. But in my day it's common when for example I quit with cause and WIN at my home state benefits and damages against a employer they tend to blacklist me.

Takes a lot of economic losses in those days but ultimately they could not prevent me from getting back into it. Its ancient history.

    Well that’s interesting.
They’re claiming I had an incident in Fairfield? PA but I’ve NEVER been there? In fact the date they gave I was with my trainer still?
They’re also saying there was an alleged incident in NOV the car that said a rusty piece of metal came from an all aluminum trailer and hit her car. I was told it wouldn’t be on my record.
Edit: why is none of this on my DAC PSP?
Why was I not informed of the PA incident?

When I left my past job I made sure to get the truck to the terminal and cleaned out/up and took pictures...I was rushed off the property...the maintenance guy kept saying they need the truck..either way it went well. Also if you do need a ride home car rental places are pretty much everywhere like enterprise...

I generally agree but would like to tweak that a bit. Have enough class to recognize when someone has had your back, to not stab them when you quit. This is more so with a small < 100 carrier than a mega, but the concept is the same. This is important for several reasons, but one very important is how this affects others that come behind you. I know that sounds confusing. People will be less apt to trust another driver if people keep stabbing them in the back. I have seen a carrier lose an important account because a driver quit and left them in a bad lurch. Just use your noggin and keep your wits about you during this process.

As it knows to happen, some of them do lie. Prospective employer told me it contacted my former employers and asked me for the reason Covenant Transport fired me. I was shocked, I resigned to two different people at Covenant Transport and left the company. The recruiter at Covenant Transport told me I would finish the Orientation on Friday, the same day get a team partner and be on the road. 7-8 days after the Orientation ended, Covenant Transport did not find me a team partner and told me to wait or find a team partner by myself. I was still in their Chattanooga slum hotel where the cleaning crew did not enter the room once to change the bedding during the 10 day stay. Not wanting to waste any more days, I went to the lady who works in the training/orientation center and told her I resign, I also sent a message to the dispatcher informing him I resign. For whatever reason, Covenant Transport claimed I walked away without notice and that they fired me. I tried explaining to my prospective employer I resigned and I did not get fired, the man said Covenant Transport doesn't matter he will hire me anyway, he only wanted to hear my side of the story. Luckily by now with this much experience I can get a job above those companies who attract OTR drivers with little experience by the use of lies and lack of professionalism. 'Suing' is a whole new story.
