if you were a real trucker, you'd also have your spare tire around your neck and a 4X4 piece of dunnage under each arm as well as the 10 chains.

    FLATBED and Treefork Thank this.

Back when I was OTR, resets weren't around, but we had a hotel for 1-2 days waiting for return loads.
Lucky to be in a city, and did all the tourist stuff. Used taxi's buses and walked alot. In winter, did malls for walking and movies.
first thing everyday was to find a paper and sit at starbucks and enjoy my drink, and watch the regulars do their routine.

I have been successful in taking 90% of my resets at home.

If I choose to take one OTR, I will do laundry, polish/seal my chrome/aluminum bits and watch movies. That, and look for shops and other things to check out near my truck.

Actually, if you work 5 14 hour days you exhaust your 70. Many of my regional drivers come close to exhausting their 70 from early Monday morning to Friday afternoon. Then they are home for 2 days. They usually unload and reload and drive 10 hours a day.

    NDBADLANDS Thanks this.

That's how I roll. By time I'm home Friday my clock is running low. Reset and hit it again.

Your regional drivers have the best of both worlds, OTR and hometime/personal time. I think this is great and I bet you have very high driver retention rate.
