The problem with some people in the trucking industry is that their experience will be others destiny! if you are a person that understands business itself, you will succeed! just like the cement company that i worked before, before the crash in construction, this company was run by business men. Not that they new about trucking, but they knew how to manage a company and how to create contracts, how to charge, how to run a business and bring down cost, fire the unproductive. when the crash came in 2006, the company could not pay these guys and they started hiring within. They hired 30 plus years ex truckers, masters of their trade but in three years, they ran the company into the ground because they were lost how to run a company. So thats what i see here, a guy asked for an opinion and other negative drivers recommend nothing but failure! A truck driver that manages his truck as a owner operator is very different from a man that studied business and runs the same number of trucks and his profit is five times higher than the O/P. So buddyvuk, i know you are a rookie but if you have a good business plan, how to bring cost down, find a good lease company, you will be succesful. Everything is posible in this great country.

Looks like a sweet old girl. In house shops change air filters by restriction not miles or months. Over all looks good . The gears may be a tad low, but its on tall rubber! Have them Dyno it , and have another shop look at it. If you can get warranty thrown in too. Always try to get the price down . Do not think your fuel mileage expectations are out of line. Mine like that was geared higher, got 6.5 but we ran 85 most of the time.

What's wrong with driving someone else's truck and keeping your money in the bank? Do you have a solid business plan? At least $10k for repairs/maintenance? If you just want a toy buy a sports car or boat.

The 3.90's are kinda steep, looks like lp24.5's in the pics, if its a 10 over you need 3.55's to get to 1400 rpm @ 65mph, if its 10 direct, you need 2.64's to be at 1400/65mph. 3.90's with 10 over will be 1650 rpm, 10 direct will be 2100 rpm. I not sure where the "sweet spot" is on that motor, Rebel127 on this forum is THE man for Detroits PM him and he'll tell you everything you need to know.
