Can things really be that lopsided? Because if they are then this is really sad. Is anyone familiar with the site
    Lane Honey?

No, I'm not familiar with it. This is the first I've heard about it. I haven't had to run the spot market for years since I no longer have my own authority. Sammy does a Good job of telling it like it is. Almost makes me want to Negotiate some rates!

I just saw this yesterday, I was going to post it this morning.

rates aren’t bad at all, brokers are just being more aggressive.

    No they are not.

Do your due diligence with brokers.

    Too many don't get that.

I'm assuming Lane Honey is a paid subscription service?

Interesting. I never had any doubt that many brokers were making much more than we thought. When spot rates are up and the broker is under contract with a shipper, the broker makes less, but when spot prices are down, brokers make a fortune. It's the same regardless of what the product is, but in logistics there is a lot of room for abuse if the shipper isn't paying attention. I have 2 contract clients and adjust my rate frequently based on the spot market just to keep my customers happy. If they feel they're being treated fairly, they'll stick with me.

I tried Lane Honey and wasn't impressed. If I had quoted their rates to my customers, they'd have laughed me out of their offices.
