what do you say when the broker says that's all I have in it?

Just seems like I am beating my head into a brick wall sometimes. We have two drivers based in Florida who happen to both go home at the same time for the holiday weekend. I don't care when they go home, but #### it is a pain to get one out of Florida but two seems impossible. I ended up dead heading them both our of Florida. even with the dh miles we still ending up better than breaking even and got them rolling toward better markets. Talked to one broker who was offering $700 for a frozen load going 750miles out of florida. I told them we can't meet in the middle on it if that is the rate and said thanks.. They got really pissy with me telling me how great that rate was and said he had trucks that would do it all day for those rates. I politely told him if they can make a profit on they were welcome to the freight and hung up. I didn't even counter offer him I knew if they were that low that it was just a waste of time.

Can't operate a truck without a refer for that money. Extra cost for refer. Only one making money on that run is the Broker. If it was such a great rate why was it even on the board. He should've had his favorite trucking company booked on it. funny stuff these brokers.

If you have other guys that are cheaper, call them. Matter of fact give me their numbers: I'll make a ton of money having them run my freight for those prices.

I'm running a seminar next week on bidding freight: you need to come to it, clearly. I'll have my secretary give you the info.

At that rate I'll have my pickup truck there tomorrow. That's the deck space your rate pays for.

I've used all those. The last one got a regular broker to triple his offer, which I took.

No reason to get huffy. If they say they can move it all day long for that rate, I answer by saying I can double that rate by driving half a day, and tell him he's welcome to call me back if he reconsiders.

if the broker starts out with the sob story about it not being very good but he will do me a favor and give me everything in it I normally butt in and say if your not proud I do not want to hear about it, have a nice day and good luck
