How does it do that?
Unless the device is programmed to start the log as soon as the wheels turn, there's nothing that keeps the driver from lying about his start time, load/unload times etc.
I know lots of guys that do that because they don't want to prematurely start their 14 hour clock.
I guess those are just little white lies though?
From what I understand though the requirements for instantaneous logging when the wheels turn is going into place in 2019, who knows.
What do you think will happen after the ELDs kick in?

It was supposed to note, without status input, when an engine starts and maybe stops. One of the myriad reasons the ecm was to be connected to the device.

One can still lie on elogs BUT they have a fix for that too and it's on it's way. Get ready for the driver facing camera!

I don't "flip my clock". I sleep on a regular schedule to ensure I get proper rest. Otherwise, unsafe driver.
I do prefer to park in a truck stop, so I do work to get in while there is still parking available. I'm responsible for the truck, trailer, and load. And it's my responsibility to ensure the safety of said truck, trailer, and load to the best of my ability prior to my crawling into the bunk for my ten.
Guess I must be a sissie, then....peterd Thanks this. -
