Ain't no point to run the truck hard. It don't pay. Just drive slow and backup your logs at the end of the day. But don't get too carried away.

Depends on who you talk to lol. Everyone is different and some people think some miles is more than others, but I'm a O/O and I fudge my log book to death! The way this economy and world is you gotta cheat a little bit, or you will not make it. Government wants you to work for free. For every 100 dollars you make they would take 99 if they could bunch of greedy ########!

Tack on the greedy brokers, and you've got yourself a depleted economy of you're own.

Used to be, running and working hard in the USA was a good thing. We praise those who've worked hard to provide for themselves and their families. People like that have managed to do it without sponging off the government. LOL, but it seems those that support the HOS and electronic logs are against those that drive day after day, using their own rules. My rule is and has always been, I sleep when I'm sleepy, and I drive when I'm awake. You can't get anymore safe than that. And yet, to those that support the HOS and EOBR's, I'm a criminal. Go figure. It's OK for them to drive tired, as long as they've got "legal hours"... But it's not OK for me to drive when I'm wide awake and out of hours.

You're exactly right! That's how I feel too! They dont care if you stay up 8 hours and then go drive a truck for another 10 hours so now you have been up 18 hours without driving and you're tired, but you're legal on your log book. The whole world is messed up and corrupt that's why diesel is over 4 bucks a gallon, killings, etc... You used to be able to make a decent living now you have to watch everything you do. Stay safe out there!

I asked a cop once, "How does lines on a piece of paper, make a driver safe?" Of course the only answer he could come up with is probably one he was either taught when he got his DOT certification or heard from another DOT certified cop was "I don't make the laws, I just enforce them"...

I see. 15500:1 ratio in deadly crashes, yet trucks are the most dangerous thing on the highway and should be held to higher standards. And instead of educating yourself and learning how to drive, you choose to take the easy route and blame the trucks for all the evils on the open road. When someone you know dies in a car crash, and they will (its only a matter of time...especially if they are like you), and its not involving an 18, I will smile. And when they put one of those crosses on the road for them, be sure and be dilligent and put these words on the cross, "Stupid died here. May he/she rest in peace."

Years ago, a Moron went driving through the mountain roads, took a curve too fast, flew off the mountain and got killed. The people were shocked. They put up a guardrail. Moron Junior felt safe because of the guardrail, went through the curve even faster than his moronic predecessor. He lost control, hit the guardrail, which cut his car in half, killed him and his girlfriend. The townspeople were horrified, "We must save our young people!" So, they widened the road out to 6 lanes, put signs all over the place, and flashing lights, rumble strips...etc. Moron III went through there at triple digit speed, got hypnotized by all the flashing lights and hit the back of a log wagon, killing Moron IV. The logs were sticking out the back window. Nevermind that MoronIII was drunk into a stupor, it has to be that stick truck's fault. To try to save the Moron family, the townspeople put up new regs (NO ENGINE BRAKING/TRUCKS MUST USE RIGHT LANE/STEEP GRADE/PHOTO RADAR) Cindy Moron came through texting, hit a car head on and was killed. Were there any trucks involved? Yes! There was a Roadway truck pulling doubles 3 miles away...it has to be his fault. So, they brought out the DOT and stopped Roadway. Found a marker light out on the first pup trailer. "Aha! He's unsafe! Its his fault that Cindy Moron was killed!" Aaron Moron flies through the same road on his crotch rocket, goes on a fieldtrip at 190 mph and its a tree. "Who can we blame now...we have to do something to help the Morons! If we keep losing Morons, we wont get re-elected!"
