Some of the MS/Mid TN moonshine (paint thinner) will take the edge and most of the base(composition) off of .anything.
Now the good stuff...Hard to explain. But here is a summination...

Actually, in the PI. They take a 12 inch file, heat and beat to that shape/curvature, stick a piece of bamboo on as a handle sharpen and use.
My yard boy cut my grass on his knees swishing the thing to and fro, Then would gouge down in the flower beds to cultivate. All purpose gardening tool.
He was a native, (Negrito) used a custom (home made) bow and arrow, Wouldn't want to meet "Pete" in a bad mood, even in daylight.
Story is during WWII there was a landline from Clark Air Base to Manila. Negritos guarded it. Never was cut. The snuck into Jap camps at night and cut every other throat. Hell of a wake up call...
