That is always the question.

We have an automated log audit program. I ran afoul of it a few months ago due to having some issues with the dispatch software. Ops cleaned up the times once the dispatch software came back online, but not before the audit software flagged my logs.

The safety critter couldn't find the "violation", because the violation didn't exist, so he started to make up a reason. If the safety critter knew what to look for, he could have EASILY nailed my hide to the wall for log falsification. But he didn't and after bickering back and forth I suggested conferencing in the safety manager, or a couple other upper middle managers in regulatory.

Safety critter backed down.

 

You mean to tell me that these pasty faced techno wizards that are considered by some to be brilliant don’t have a clue WTF they’re talking about???? Go figure

 

No, I'm saying that a mediocre driver with a high school education who thinks he's getting a pay raise/promotion to be a safety critter probably shouldn't be a safety critter.

Now if you want to talk about the techno wiz kids - our automated trip planning software decided US 58 is a legal route from I77 east to Stuart VA and that with 2.5 hours left on my 14 I could get from Nitro WV to Ft Chiswell, thus would only have an hour and a half drive into delivery this morning.

This afternoon it thought I could get from MT Airy NC to Beckly WV with 44k in the box in under 2 hours.

A couple weeks ago it suggested that I take my 10 at a Walmart inside the Atlanta belt line.

Our new motto is "Technology is better than thinking".
