That's for sure with the current interest rates. Was talking to the wife about that the other day. Was 2 1/2 percent when we bought our place, I don't know how the hell anybody can afford to buy anything without paying cash right now!

Here's the weird thing about growing old.....you have an 850 credit score but you don't need the money.
    Funny how life works sometimes.

Fight all your life to get that way and then when you do, you can’t make yourself give any up on the toys you think you need— pretty screwed up deal if you ask me

It was spooky slow for business out there today for being Friday.

Usually everything is just packed. Barely anyone anywhere.

Something BIG is going to give soon.

Yep Need to have that fixed, well more like minimally dynamic, monthly cost nailed down. The rise in interests rates has made that not as obtainable to people not currently owning property. Compounding that is people that can not step up to the next rung on the property ladder because of the interest rates.

My end game plan (retirement plan) has always included my house and land paid for with no outstanding notes against it.

A good sized chunk of mad Money in the bank/liquid investments -- which can only be achieved when you have no car loans or credit/personal loans.

And then set up for all monthly bills comfortably covered by Social Security.

That's a good plan... something I hope to do myself one day, good lord willin and the creek don't rise!.... though I probably wouldn't ever fully retire even if I could.... sure would be nice to know I could though.

I don't think you are wrong. I'm just hoping it's a slow leak and not a bust like '08 times.

There is an 11 to 12 year cycle in the overall economy. This country is past due for a correction.

So— you nailed it— next employer will most likely be the State (we’ll see Monday) — 5 years to be vested in the pension— other half is already vested— that’ll be around 7k/month without SS —most everything is paid off - we’ll probably have 3 or 4 good years till we cork off and the kids get it— why folks should have fun while they can
