    For a few hundred bucks I could be up and running doing exactly that. And have even considered it a time or 2... But the reliability of available work through an already established company is very much needed right now.... Im literally 2 paychecks away from the poor house. I have little to no buffer to fall back on if things go ary.

    Agree wholeheartedly. But, I often wonder,.You stop. you look, you listen. You stick it in go and proceed to proceed. Like a flash, train is there and you are hit.
    You come to an unprotested crossing, visibility is good both ways. So you go. Oops, did not see the train coming. Bam...
    It is risky either way. Dead stop, slow creep off or slow (adequately) and get across quickly.
