In all the shops I've worked in over the years, not one has allowed me or anyone else to stay after giving notice. Kind of an unspoken rule of sorts I guess, give notice and they ask you load your tools the next day.

Last gig in Tx, we had a Petershaker for a couple weeks. One of those aero ones, Ive goT
a pic somewhere. Dont know what the exact issue was, but the seat in that thing nearly crippled me. After driving it for awhile, upon exiting this pos, I could barely, barley walk. I remember on the trip back home stopping at a rest area and laying down on some concrete. Felt wonderful. Once I was back in our usual Cascadia all was well.

When I put in my 2 week at Baker Hughes I was asked by my immediate manager if I was willing to actually work those 2 weeks. I told them yes, but I was leaving as we were being bought out by Haliburton and had no work, also knew layoffs were coming. I had a job and start date already set, but was told to shred that notice, and give them a new 2 week notice my last day. I was let go as soon as corporate got the notice, and given the 2 weeks pay.

We got the driver convenience package on the TK as well. Comes with the 120amp alternator rather than the 65.

    I don't think you missed anything, @Opus.

There was a lot of mismanagement going on when I got there, and it got progressively worse over the next nine months I was there.

The shop is moving farther north, adding 15 minutes to my commute, which, for what they pay me, is not worth it.

So I got hauled into the office at the end of July, they said they "heard" I didn't want to make the move, which I admitted was true, and they said that, as a technician, I "wasn't as good as they needed me to be", (?!?) and they would probably need to let me go, so I should start looking for another job.

    So, here we are.

The move is going to be a cluster flock, and I anticipate the current management team will take the fall for the inevitable failure. Not sure what the "corporate endgame" is, but they have one.

Boss told me "good luck", I told him I appreciate the sentiment, but he's gonna need all the luck he can find, and doesn't have any to be giving away.

I also told him I've been in the workforce at least part time since I was 13 years old, and I've been fired four times, laid off three times, and locked out once, and I always land on my feet. Then I shook his hand and left.

Tomorrow I go get my toolboxes, then the place is ancient history for me.

Sorry. Longer post than I meant to make.

I went out on the front lawn with Missus Skillet, and we looked at that big full moon. It's a little cool out, and someone has their wood stove going. I love that smell!

We just hugged, and watched the moon. And for that I am thankful...

Typical gas/oil outfits. Y'all either get run off(2 chks) or you drag up. It's just the way it is.
