I'm staying OUT of this one; I just didn't apply in time. Last time I 'entertained' the thought of going with an O/O (who no longer exists, out of MT) ... yeah. You know or you don't know.

So, I'm behind. Really thinking I'd have MORE time, being back OTR. Just kicking cans (and tires) atm.

I prefer tanks, but.. we shall see. QC is ... having issues... I'm still good where I am.. call it a 'mid life crisis,' IDK.

For a new from TK APU I was quoted in the neighborhood of $12k installed.

DPF and catalyst replacement was $4k.

After saying that I will agree that for driver fitness/rest an APU is the way to go. But still a quality of life call. Saving the fines for late loads, deductibles from crashed trucks, and on boarding costs for replacing disgruntled steering wheel holders would more than offset the cost of the APU to my eye.

I have had the pleasure of riding a Hummer in the early form back in the 80's hanging onto a 60 degree cement slope. I think it was a little 200 horse engine in it then. Sticky. That however was a lean I am not accustomed to.

Its time we replaced that thing. And I think this would be the vehicle to do it. Just one little issue.

We have been spoiled chasing terrorists, I think its time we relearn how to fight Nation States. Just a thought.

I thought APU's burned pints not gallons.

    What ever. Good night all.

He aint the only one. I feel like a dinosaur here sometimes. All this fancy APU talk. Little engine to run hotel in the cab.

If the trucking company rises and falls on a small amount of fuel each night then they are not charging enough to run loads.

That’s still not counting the cost of fuel when idling, and the additional wear and tear on the equipment.

I put an EPU and a bunk heater on the new truck, and the driver absolutely loves the system. Until last week, when it wasn’t reading the battery charge and wouldn’t run the AC. The Kenworth techs are scratching their heads, sending emails to Paccar, and still couldn’t find the problem..... “We’ve never seen this before”

Oh, well, that’s what I get for being the volunteer ginnea pig. Helps that the truck has been in Montana and Washington this week.

One box replacement is $12K. Along the way, you'll replace that DPF 3 or 4 times. Not to mention the wear you've put on your piston rings and liners.

Yes. It's so much more cost effective your way.

Even an ultra flea bag motel is $60 or $70 a night, if they have truck parking.

EPU don't do well in the southwest per wrench.
They're ok for moderate climates, but you need the diesel driven compressor for cooling.
