I get ny strip steaks from aldis. 10 - 12 bucks each. Don't eat as much red meat as I used to.

Not sure if this is still how the corporate side still operates, when Outback first started opening stores, they looked for 1 or 2 husband/wife teams to operate the location. It was a form of partnership, not a true franchise. If memory serves me, you started with a 10 percent ownership. Each year your ownership stake would increase, providing the metrics were met or exceeded.

We rarely go to restaurants anymore. I can get better quality food from the grocery stores, make it at home and have and enjoy a much better meal. The only drawback is the dishes, we have to do the dishes, well actually the dishwasher does a majority of the work.

There is all kinds of service/food at places. I thinks some of your experience were due to the franchisee had gotten greedy and thought the name would cover the sins of poor provision. Kind of like a "state bank' vs national regulation years back. License to steal.
I often recall a restaurant, on RH/north side of US78, WB, bottom of Heflin Mountain before AL 9 Junction going south toward Talladega. Just a nice roadside restaurant, ample parking/access to all. Nice comfy inside fixtures and good food. You order; get served, checked on for anything else and your check was placed on the table face down. For a reason..
The back read as I remember: We hope you enjoyed your visit. If there was anything unsatisfactory, there will be no charge. Just place this face down on the counter at the register. Please accept out apologizes.
I was curious, so I told the man. "Food was good and service was even better." Out of curiosity, how often do you have someone do this?
He smiled and replied: Very seldom...

Yeah Dave.. Just shows how far down humanity has gone in my lifespan. I have been privileged to see; live thru, some times that people under say 55/60 can never experience in their life times. Freedom to express your opinion and true beliefs and if countered, debate was offered and considered.
Everyone kinda covered his own ground as needed and offered "assistance" to the needy at whatever level it took. Lived and let live.
