A Braille printer... Aka Braille embosser. Very large, very noisy, and constantly breaking down.

I taught high school like 14 years ago. 2010 Illinois laid off 12,000+ teachers, the economy was weak. I was one of them. We had a blind student. Her assigned aid would print stuff off. But you did music which is a different level.

You best just keep your mind on generating some ROI for the home store with that fancy new step.

Texas still has inmates transcribing braille. It's actually a sought after job on the few units who continue to offer it.

Lmao. Yes it smells, is some what loud. But it's $4 for 8 hours of AC on vs $3.5 an hour to idle the emission truck plus the DEF.

For basic literary Braille there is software that you can scan a page into and it will transcribe with about 90% accuracy.

Mathematics is not that simple... As far as I know there is no software that can transcribe even remotely accurately to Nemeth (braille mathematics).

When I was doing music transcription I would scan in the sheet music, run the files through 2 seperate pieces of software, and then load it into a 3rd piece of software that I could make changes manually... The first 2 pieces of software could transcribe the music with about 15% accuracy (and 15% is me being generous).

I would stare at a computer screen filled with black dots representing braille for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for nearly a year to transcribe Handels Messiah. About 130 pages of printed sheet music, which transcribed into just shy of 1000 pages a Braille music.

My assistant took care of running the files through the first 2 pieces of software so I could concentrate on transcribing in the 3rd software... Dot, by dot. I read every single dot of those 1000 pages at least twice, sometimes as many as 10 times for a particularly tricky passage of music.

It sounds like writing computer code. Pretty intense.

It was the best paying inmate job in the state correctional system once an advanced certification (music or math) was earned... Payed $50 a month.
