One of my good customers told me he might have a pickup for me, four drums of oil. He operates out of a small storage building. I told him I would pick it up if his company gave it to us.

I didn't get the pickup. Instead they sent this foreign non English speaking expedite van to him. He loaded a 2000 lb skid of drums and didn't strap it. Very soon he will get a first hand physics lesson.



I told my customer he will probably be sending four more to replace those LOL.

Just a little north of there is Spruce Pine N.C. tiny town that has two mines. These mines in Spruce Pine play a critical role in semiconductor manufacturing, thanks to the very pure quartz found here. This pure quartz is used to make the crucibles in which silicon is melted down without contamination. And no this isn't just one of the many places that has this stuff...Spruce Pine accounts for an estimated 90% of the world's crucible-grade quartz. And yes the mines are flooded out and will take a few months to get them back online.

 

A lot to be said about the ability to "Come back from a trip", just sayin....
