    If you can see that the pump shaft is not turning then it may have froze and busted something inside. There is an old pump here that you can see the shaft like you are saying but also some you cant. Are you sure its just not primed? If you have to get a new pump get a submerisble one.

    They did. There was bat insulation with vermiculite on top of that. Replaced it with R38 bat. Put a couple vents up there too.
    He took a sample to send off to the zonolite trust thingy. Said he's never had one turned down.

    This morning I primed it with a funnel. I noticed it running out of the bottom of the pump. The housing is cracked. So it's out and I'll go to home Depot and get another. Probably home Depot.

    Buy a heat tape while there and wrap it good and plug it up so it wont freeze and bust again.

    above ground pump ? Possibility foot valve is kaputt.
    But it could have sheared something . Haven't seen an above ground pump in 20 yrs or longer . I'd look to see if pipe is holding water first but dont drop pipe into well ! Seen it happen. Nvrmind just saw the big crack .
