No Spring like in the USA... place where my dad used to live is always hot and hot HOT.... they have two seasons... summer and winter... but it is always hot all year long.. only difference is that it rains in the winter and it doesn't in the summer....

In my opinion, the safety "benefits" seen by the differential are more than offset by the road rage type interactions with non CMVs caused by the differential. I could work with a 5 mph differential, 10 MPH is about the upper limit of what I view as safe.
Where I become the evil villain in the room is when I say they need to cut back the general populace speed limits to be no more than 5 (or 10) over the truck speed limits. An exception may be in areas with grades more than 4 or 5 percent. If the speed limit for trucks can not or will not be stepped up do not step up the cars.
That would be even more important if the government does mandate a top speed for trucks.

CALI is once again it's own little special snowflake for the 55MPH limit. Here's what I witnessed happen:
When the Nationwide 55 MPH speed limit was lifted, Everybody was allowed to run a bit faster (even trucks in Cali) What ended up happening was, when the news came on it was not a question of if somebody got killed by a rag tag port type truck it was a question of how many would die in a given day. Then as now the cheap fly by night port trucks where a public hazard. They were marginally maintained to run 55. They literally started falling apart and killing people at speed over 55. To stop the public menace the state legislature passed a bill putting the 55 limit back on trucks. this was back in the early '90s. They had no choice cause the CHiP was not organized/empowered to proactively shut bad operators down.
Fast forward to now..... Cali has mandated state safety inspections on California registered CMVs. That has cleaned up a bunch of the worst of the offenders.
55 for trucks is a law in Cali, not a vehicle code like most states that have speed differentials. The problem is to change the laws the state legislature would need to pass a bill. I do not believe there is enough motivation to get one introduced let alone passed.Rocks, WesternPlains and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
