    Well the DEF code has reared it's ugly head again.

    Of course when there's no time to F with it, and 200 miles from nowhere.

    Code is specific- nozzle is clogged.

    There's no one at this Love's in the bays, and they won't let me work on it or take a crack at it.

    Some guy, maybe the same guy, has a how to video on YouTube, on how to take it apart and clean it.

    It's actually pretty much a snap. And the way it's acted, I'll bet that's exactly what it is.

    One local road service guy knows exactly how and what it is, but he's doing a radiator.

    Two others just grunt, one more said he'll try, but i need to be 200 miles down the road by the time he even wants to show up.

    So, going to go for what we know, and look for an opportunity to fix it or get it fixed.

    Well the overhead is done. Almost everything was tight. I saw a few lobes that look questionable. I'll go back in a few months and look again. They were cylinder 4 exhaust. Intake cam was fine.

    I'm thinking I'll have to replace some fuel lines after the fuel housing to high pressure pump.

    Here is a picture from the camera I used. I used the cell phone to be a hotspot and my tablet to watch. There is a little indentation that indicates your at TDC 1 or TDC 6. I barred over the engine using the alternator and a half inch drive.

    I used a Quin electric torque wrench , new to me.

    It's like 170 dollars, afterwards I'm like is a snap on better??? , it's like 340...... But snap on lifetime warranty.

    What i don't like about it. Is you cycle thru the options of measurement and it's gets to the angle option, then it blinks at you for like a minute.

    I'll put the valve train cover on tommorow and see how it starts. Then time to find the vacuum leak between the fuel filter housing and high pressure pump.

    I also downloaded a 1200 page manual for like $25, very good.


    PS: notice the batteries are Toshiba.

    PSS: I wanted to adjust the jakes, but you need a 6mm or maybe it's 5mm feeler gauge. Not .4 and .6 for intake and exhaust. Have to mail order it.

    Leg 1182.5 miles 157.5 gallons 7.50 mpg

    Cruel but not unusual wind in face for the first 100 miles too.

    Nose in to a TA spot and have at it. Make sure there is uber or a car rental place, incase, you know, stuff breaks.

    If you really want some fun. Wash your line out with diseal. That's fuel made out of baby seals.

    Urea, def, is a polar molecule, use water. Water is polar too.

    It's the doser in the valve. The dude in the video cleans his with starting fluid.

    Road service dude said brake cleaner will work too.

    It's got little screens in it. And the nozzle itself gets plugged.

    It said you can buy new screens. I should land tomorrow ( hopefully) near bigger town.

    I just have no time for freightliner to f around with it for a day for 45 minutes worth of work.

    Hopefully I can keep going.
