Whopping 4.95 mpg. Only 47k on inframe. It better kick up 1 mpg by 70k, or we have a problem. Without 30 hrs idling, on 2000 miles, would have been about 5.3 at best.

Locals are NOT equal opportunity employers. You have to be family or the boss has to be indebt to your family. It is the reason I am letting my license lapse in a week. There is no work here for overweight truck drivers.

Ok there is work, the work that is avail is running their drivers illegal. 2 log books. You get the idea. Violations up the wazoo, and most of them have gone under from the fines.

Well 2 days of idling has taken us down to 7.8mpg this week, because no damnes broker wanted to work this weekend it seem. I just spent the last hour out walking, stretching, and throwing in pushups/mountain climbers. It's the most movement I've had in the last 3 weeks on this but leg, and hoping a sign of improving the sciatica condition.

Unfortunately to a large degree local work has and always will follow that formula. I'd be happy making less, working close to home, and being with my wife; but not having an esteemed pedigree with the good old boys has long been a downfall for me.

When I was getting my license, there were three local companies that were saying come drive for us. The market imploded in the autumn of 08. They disappeared in 08 as well as 80% of the work. Used to be, dirt haulers needed 8-10 trucks and drivers. Now those same companies get by with 3-4 trucks. There are a few mega dirt haulers and a job that is coming in Maine in a year or so. Yet the state has no interest in putting everyone to work.

My baby daughter; a gaming attorney-now 54 yrs old was the most popular girl in her dorm at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. Her roommate told me,people are always coming up asking for Heather.
I asked why is that? She said: Heather has tools.... They don't.
Her daughter shipped off to Miami of Ohio 3 years ago. I got the call; "Daddy, get one of those little Craftsman bags and fix up a tool kit for Isabeau to take to school." Life repeats.
