Hey cattleman, I'm happy to hear your getting home more, I was over the rd for 30 yrs., mostly the USA. I still miss trucking with you Guys.
Being home at night and the weekends is nice after all these yrs. Your right about making waffles and such, I missed the little things being on the road but I had to do what needed to be done to pay the invoices at the time. Even today? If I was alone had just myself to care for I would be in the Wind every day.
Enjoy yourself cattleman, you have worked hard from what I have read, especially hauling cattle, almost did that gig one time out of Alberta.
    Enjoy your waffles big fellow.

Yeah being home most every night is really nice. I still run my butt off doing the local stuff but it doesnt seem like it. I'm much happier now.

Yesterday I was in Boise and the outbound OTR dispatcher called me to see if I would pick up a load for him on my way back, simce I would be comimg back empty. Sure, I said. I'll call when I'm headed that way for more info.

Well, once I was empty I called the office and double checked with the local dispatcher that he didnt have anything for me. Then I asked him to transfere me to the OTR dispatcher.

The local dispatcher was like... "Youre not going back OTR next week are you?"

Me: No, OTR wants me to pick a load for him on my way to the yard.

Local dispatch: Oh good, I sure like having you on local. And next week I'm going to be swamped with loads.

Me: LOL, No I'm stay local for good.

Local dispatch: Oh thank goodness, I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Good lord I am bored to death not being OTR. I'll just be glad to be home by Wednesday finally. Then I can do more than stare at walls.

    Yes.

    I am working.

Enroute to MN with a relay, then pick up a preload at the same terminal, run back to WI, then from there back to Chicago to grab a clean one and load, then deliver in WI. (This one is from the dispatcher who makes his office in the Department of Wishful Thinking. I said "yes" to this load before I thought it through.)

THEN, It's back to Ham Mound to pick up a load headed "back towards" Cincinnati.

The two customers we load out of Ham Mound are long-ish runs. No matter which one I get, by the time I get home I'll have been out 14 days.....again, I know, but.......Missus Skillet is not pleased.

She made sure I was clear on that point last night.

    Break's over. Driver gotta go!
