I can understand if there is a reason.
I don't go to warehouses.
If I did then I would probably have to wear steel toed boots.
Some people have actually tried telling me that its illegal to drive a truck unless wearing steel toed boots. Fact is that in Canada, its legal to drive in bare feet.
If it was a law, I would do it. But what I wear is not illegal, in the places that I go. Oneday I was picking up a button top to haul. Work safe happened to be there at the time. I was in shorts, sandals and a bikini top. I was walking around the yard talking about what had to be moved, and where. Those 2 work safe inspectors were keeping an eye on me. Once it was time to load up, I jumped in the button top, fired it up, and was heading towards my truck. I stopped close, released the trailer from the neck, so it was laying on the ground, pulled my tractor with the neck attached ahead a good 100'. I then backed up, reattached, and then pulled out my coveralls, slip on boots, and gloves. I dragged out a bunch of chains and cinches, secured the machine, and was taking off my coveralls, when the 2 inspection/enforcement people approached me. They said hello, and then complemented me on how i keep my drivers seat and cab clean by not putting on coveralls till i was going to actually get dirty, then taking them back off. They looked at my chain down job, and complimented me on an exemplary chain job. I jumped in my truck and drove off. There is a time and place for dressing up to be comfortable, also for getting filthy, and for safety. The cab of a truck is as safe in shorts, as it is in jeans.
But when someone tries to tell me that nobody can drive well unless wearing jeans, an ugly shirt, and boots, well i find them entertaining, in a pathetic sort of way.
As a fellow driver once told me at a card lock, where I was fueling up, after a guy commented on my attire, and told me that meant I wasn't a real trucker. He is just jealous, because you look good dressed like that, and if he were to dress the same way, people would be puking if they saw that mess. He made sure to say it more than loud enough for fatso, with the black teeth, 20 remaining hairs, and a belly spilling over his jeans by a foot, to hear.
As I had a spare tooth brush in my glove box, it walked it over to him, suggested that he use it, find a gym, and just shave those last few ridiculous looking hairs off.
He was mighty silent then, no more rude comments, not even as I walked away.
What if it Snows?
