Not a driver yet, but I can tell you what I hate about the other jobs I've had.

Having 5 different bosses wanting me to do 1 task 5 different ways. Then having to explain to 4 of the 5 bosses why I did it the way the other boss said.

Dealing with shady, back stabbing co-workers who are all smiles to your face then you hear them around the corner talking crap about you when you've never been anything but polite and nice to them.

Picking up slack from other lazy co-workers.

Honestly I could write a book, I'll just leave it to those as the big three for me.

The prospect of working alone 90% of the time is what has drawn me to trucking.

    1) yeah, me too. i had one "weasel" (actually looked like one) get on my case for NOT doing what HE said. i'd tell him, "big boss told me NOT to do it your way"....he'd argue with me, till one day, i got INTO his face.

i out weighed him by about 50 pounds, and was taller than him....
of course, for some stupid reason, i was wrong...
    (he actually got transferred out)...lol

    2) nearly ALL places have such back stabbers. each one, in high hopes of being such a brown noser to be next in line for a promotion....

Pish...:biggrin_25513: I'd rather be fishin in a lightning storm wrapped in aluminum foil grounded to a giant electrical tower outside a Japanese nuclear plant during a major earthquake. I got bills and free room. They don't hire guys to ride their Harleys like they hire snowflakes to walk their dogs.

First driving was a dream that took several decades to get around to. Driving for me is so much more than a job I find it to be excellent therapy, after retiring from the service I find myself seeking solitude more and more. I will never put my self into the position of being responsible for others again, therefore, trucking fits my groove.

It’s always been truckin. Since I was old enough to want to be anything, I’ve wanted to be a trucker. Not just a driver, but a real trucker. Eat, sleep, and breathe diesel smoke. I’d give them guys the arm pump and they’d honk.... man I just knew one day I’d be the one pulling that cord. My truck, my rules.

I love lookin out across that hood at the highway flyin by, truckin all night, stopping for a nap off of some lease road in the middle of nowhere Texas, away from city lights and traffic, just me and the stars and the coyotes in the distance.

How could I possibly want to do anything else?

And that turbo spool up, and your seat flexing backwards because of the g's, and that unholy feeling of having enough power to change the rotation of earth. It's like getting paid to have sex with a very beautiful woman who worships you.
