What is the average cost of adding a lift axle?

    This company will train me. I’m sure I will figure it out. Common sense goes a long way as long as I err on the side of caution. I am familiar with axle spacing and axle weight limits just never heard about the drives. I have done a couple over weight loads (coils) on my flatbed.

    This company can’t train you. You said they have two rgn’s which technically you don’t have an rgn. 2 out of 250. They don’t know wtf they are doing either and your dispatcher has already told you this.

    There's more to it than just bolting an axle on. My T800 is factory 4- heavy deep frame, crossmembers for lift axle, everything shoved forward to get empty weight on the front axle, cooling, drivelines, 46 rears, etc, etc.
    Another way to put it- 425's on a 12,000# front axle doesn't make it good to go for 20,000#. At least unwise in my opinion.

    You’ve gotten a lot of good answers here from people that have actual skin in the HH game — real money invested over the course of years, ten or more for many of them — and they have all watched the rates crumble by people who don’t know what the #### they’re doing, or trying to get into, with inadequate equipment and shoddy, at best, knowledge of the complexities in this end of the industry.

    I’ll ask you again — because I didn’t see an answer from you. Do you know the actual weight rating of the axles currently on your truck? I’m not talking about what you can permit. I’m talking about the manufacturers rating. If you don’t know where to find this information, you’re already behind and should probably exit stage left and continue with the 5 or 6 axle work.

    They have 3 RGNs and I will be buying one of them. They will probably assign me a different dispatcher that focuses on RGNs. We are always picking up at Army Bases so I’m sure they have a dispatch team leader etc. Plenty of support and know how with this company.

    What is the wheelbase of the tractor?
    Do you even have room for a lift axle without stretching the frame?
    Are you going to take a sawsall to all the plastic fairing in the way?
