What is the minimum per mile you would run for?

Punksmacker I can see where you're coming from but the way I see it is this, I can take one load out and one load back, working 2-3 days a week and beat those numbers. That's only one night spent in the truck or a hotel and the truck is still making a good rate per mile.

This week for instance was dead slow. But it did work out as I found a load paying 1600 for 600 mi outbound and found 1700 coming right back. I would rather do this then work for the bare minimum

Well as I look outside of my house with my paid for truck and trailer parked on my acres of land i seem to be doing ok, i dont have to try and demeanor another driver on here because they or working for less than what you think you might need to do the same thing, youre probably like so many other drivers out here who thinks their ###### doesn't stink, you said you USED to have your authority, what happened?? If you managed your money right you might still have it, and frankly if youve got so many bills that you have to work all the time than thats your fault. I got my authority to work less not to work more, and i didn't go into this with the thought of getting rich because that wont happen in trucking, if $900 a week is not enough for you to live on than YOU do what you have to do then. Having your Authority is not as expensive as everone makes it sound, for me i pay $6500 a year for insurance (truck and trailer), $1100 for plates, $120 a year for drug testing program, couple hundred for property tax and my Ifta last year was around $100, no tolls or weigh tickets...like i mentioned earlier, my buisness last year took in $38000 for the truck side, minus the above expenses that leaves the rest for repairs if needed, being that fuel is down this year my bottom end will be a lot higher including the personal wage side,, so whats the problem?? Just because the rest of you have to run the road to make what You need to live on dont get mad at me for needing less, most drivers don't know their #'s , i know my #´s forward and backwards, the weight i haul is around 15 grand when loaded, meaning less wear and tear on me and my truck, so trash talk all you want, I'm just trying to help the driver on here get himself a dedicated run so he can do other things, LIKE HAVE A LIFE!

And btw yes i know you can make the same thing working 3 or 4 days a week, but I also know what that entails, every thing has to fall exactly in place to get back to the starting place for that to happen,

You don't have to sacrifice money for a life. You can do both. Saying you don't need that much, is saying you're satisfied being poor, mediocre, bottom of the barrel, substandard, status quo, lazy, etc... you choose which word fits you. Avant garde, creative, a BUSINESS LEADER, rich, a need to expand or improve... those are words that don't mix with the first list. I was going to put successful, but that's a relative word, as is wealthy.

I disagree that people in trucking can't be rich. They just have to graduate from being a truck DRIVER, to being a business driver, who happens to be in trucking.

You are a classic example of self imposed limitations. Psyched yourself into believing a bunch of nonsense. You can get excellent rates down south depending on the season. I could book cheap 100 mile van loads for $400-$500 practically year round without even trying if I wanted to in most places down south. My equipment is all paid for and I enjoy 5 to 6 months at home a year. Depending on rates I'm either home nightly, or every other night, sometimes out and back. Once in a blue moon I will go out for a week at a time. If you spent a little more time thinking instead of making excuses why you're working for half what you could be you'd be a lot better off. Might be eating lobster and shrimp at the beach this summer instead of beans and rice at home.

My exploits are well documented here. 2.50 per ODOMETER mile, 60,000 miles in 2013. 2.40 per ODOMETER mile 80,000 miles 2014. Home all the time, and 50% of my freight is home daily. You can keep your $1.30 authority working 11 hours a day 5 days a week. That sounds way too much like a job.
Btw, my break even for my trucks at .40 CPM wages and decent truck and trailer was $1.50 a mile at 3.50 fuel, and my insurance was a grand per truck per year cheaper than yours. You're not fooling anyone here.

Never said my numbers are the best, its what i have available where I live, i prefer getting home EVERY night so i bring in less to make that happen, and for someone to call me lazy because I'm not out chasing the almighty dollar is probably coming from a pot belly trucker who only knows how to drive and talk trucks while smoking a cigarette. Most truck drivers are the laziest foul mouth people in the country, and always seek an opportunity to bring someone else down while trying to make themselves look like a rock star. Honestly I'm glad for the ones who have more time off than me and can make a decent living still, thats what its all about, that must mean you have some great opportunities around your town to make that happen. Personally I think any one night spent in the back of a truck is one night too many, and if you don't mind driving the mountains, loaded to the max, driving in the crowded north or waiting hours on hours at the dock then more power to you, Im away from my house 55 hours a week, 5 of those hours or personal hours, I can account for every hour away, and when that is figured hourly it comes to a decent rate, people don't think to account for their nights away but as far as I'm concerned youre away from your house under a load thats time you should be getting paid for and once you account for ALL your hours away and find out what youre making an hour to yourself, not the truck, youll find were not to far apart,

Say what ya want but facts are facts. At a buck thirty a mile, that's the same rate as leasing to one of these big box cpm carriers. Actually it's less. They get a buck thirty without paying for plates, get big fuel discounts, and don't pay for the extra ins you need under your own authority.

Exactly. Doing the paperwork for the authority alone would be worth .10/mi. There's no way I'd run for what a leased o/o gets from a mega, while paying out the wazoonie to say I'm a do-it-yourselfer.
