I need to keep more chock blocks as I drive off and leave them periodically.
Thought about a chain but would probably get a ticket dragging one down the road.

S.A.E. and Metric wrench and socket sets, various pliers and channel locks, other basic hand tools. Oil/fuel filter wrench, snips, wire cutters, various extra wire, air chuck and gauge with air hose for the glad hand. Duct tape, electrical tape, zip ties, velcro, tons of other misc items.

I carry anything I can foresee I might need. I have done a lot of work on the truck on the side of the road or in a lot somewhere. Sometimes it is better to fix it yourself rather than wait for a service truck.

One tool I put on my trucks was questioned by both drivers until they had an occasion to need it: a roofing hammer. Has a regular hammer head on the front and an axe head on the back.

Besides chopping hookers into trash can sized pieces, it's handy for breaking up pallets and cutting things too big for a knife. Carry it around while doing your pre-trip and most people will not bother you.

^ That's what a real driver is made of, someone who isnt afraid to work on their own truck and get the darn job DONE!

I laugh when I hear people say they are drivers not mechanics or when they say "I cant adjust brakes im not certified!"....Real drivers go to work and get the job done.

Great thread! I just wanted to mention small and large hose clamps, and plastic shunts that will fit inside your power steering hoses (the primary is a pressure hose and I really don't know if it would work but I would certainly try it, but I know it works with the return hose going back to the reservoir), and your air hoses (if you don't carry spares, or that little plastic patch slider you can pick up at truckstops). Metal Hose clamps are invaluable.

In fact, metal hose clamps and any plastic bottle you can find on the side of the road (Don't Use One That Has Yellow Liquid In It!) can patch many things on a truck.

i haul trash and i carry sockets, wrenches. propane torch, countless bungies, hammers, duct tape. zip ties, extra belts, impact wrench, drill, lights, ratchet strap, binders, assorted wire. i like to stay prepared just in case i may be a company driver but to me there is no excuse for a road call. i dont make any money on the side of the road besides its company policy to be prepared... out here in new england only real men haul trash the freight queens need not apply

Great posts. Id add i carry a push broom with the screw off head. The handle gets 99% of the use. Works for placing edge protectors high up when the shipper wont let you onto of the load. The end with the hole to hang it on a hook works great for placing bungies on the high d rings.

I carry nearly everything that you would find in the average non-mechanics garage. Socket set, open end wrench set, screwdriver set, plier set, mini sledge hammer, regular claw hammer, electrical wire repair kit, penetrating oil, clear silicone gasket maker, super glue, duct tape, electrical tape, cable ties, fast orange hand cleaner, screws/nuts/bolts, and probably some small stuff that I forget I have. :D
