FWIW...I don't know much about anything.

But I know more about firearms and trucking than I do anything else.

Thanks for sharing what you know. I am not a gun owner, but have used many over the years. I shot on a rifle team in high school and had to qualify with small arms in the Navy, so I am not "anti-gun." I just never had the need or desire to own one before, even for hunting as I like archery.

However, all this talk about protecting oneself on the road has me interested.

That's not true for all states. That's the problem with gun control laws. They can trip you up easy.

Who knows how many people have moved into CA or NY with an AK-47 clone or an AR-15, which makes them felons, if they get caught?

I find the fact I can look inside my cab thru my door window(the big one that rolls up and down, not the kick window) while standing on the ground encourages people to look for easier prey.

Preferred weapon = 379 Pete with a large bambi killer on the front of it gross'ing at 80k

People sling the manure around here with a #2 grain scoop.Someone doesn't check it,it grows into legend proportions then a Law which inevitably turns into someone being a victim of "back in the 80's"

Then look into getting a Flare Pistol and rest easy knowing you have an unequaled measure of protection
    you can carry anywhere.

Sounds reasonable, but how lethal is it? I have never used one. What can it fire besides flares? Can it fire 12 or even 10 ga. shotgun shells? If it can, I really like that, as it minimizes how much aiming I have to do.

They make white phosphorous 12ga shells that might fit it. 3 second burn with a 100 yard range. As in continuous spray for 3 seconds. I dunno what you'd have to do to find some though. I saw them in a law enforcement magazine. I don't think you'd want to fire an actual 12ga round out of one, unless you really hate your arm bones being intact.

Oregon is another state that does not adhere to other states cw permits, if they catch you with a concealed weapon in oregon it does not matter if you have a permit from your home state they will take your weapon, then you have to go to the department that took it and pay to get it back. This i know due to having a relative that had his weapon in his pickup and had done some target practiice in our home state of idaho, we border oregon,, he forgot to take the wepaon out before going right into oregon to a store,, he was pulled over for a routine traffic stop and was checked, they took the weapon, he had to go with a family relative to the department and pay to get it back, Oregon officers will tell you they do not accept other states cw permits, hence another commie state, they also have no self defense law in oregon, none, you can get 5 years for first time offense due to the measure 11 law there, so beware in oregon.

    Hmmm...(duly noted after some research)

Oregon...pro gun state with preemption on concealed carry (thats the good part)

Anal retentive on using said weapons and reciprocity (thats the bad part)

The only state that I'm aware of that contradicts itself in this area. I could not find any definitive info on whether or not Oregon has Peaceable Journey laws.
