There are scanners and software that will capture the information on a document (receipt) and insert it into a spreadsheet or their software. I haven't used any of the software referenced in the linked article, I am just including it for informational purposes:

I use CamScanner (paid version) for my business when I am mobile (proof of delivery, etc.) and a Fujitsu ScanSnap at home. I have used a lot of mobile devices (scanner, printer, etc.) in the past, but stay away from them unless they're an absolute necessity.

No, definitely staying away from a scanner.... just something on my phone where I can keep up with stuff.

I bought a portable scanner for $79 from staples and it converts my scans into a pdf so I can save it on my computer or internet storage. I use one drive online storage for all my info. It is free up to a certain amount of storage (the exact amount escapes me) which I have stored over 3000 songs and all of my receipts without having to pay for the premium service yet. I scan all of my receipts at the end of the month then put it into a file labeled for that month then store in online. Just a different way to look at doing it.

My clients use hubdoc. They scan the receipt and it uploads into Quickbooks for me to track.

I've switched to the Adobe Scan app. It seems easier to use and integrate in day-to-day use. It has very good OCR, but it is not a program that captures financial data.
