I pull a 48' flat and can scale 51k lbs. I pulled a 53' conistoga 1 week of last month too. That being said still cracked $20k gross for the 4 week total but it cost me some sleep, home time and lots of extra fuel. I lose over 1.5 mpg when I pull that conistoga on top of the increase in deadhead.

I'm sure I netted more in June and took a week off for jury duty.

This is something I have been thinking about in regard to those that pull a conistoga. There's no way to reduce drag even if you have a low profile load or are deadheading.

I think the fact that I have a Midroof and the trailer is 13'6" doesent help. There is also more than 3' cab to trailer distance.

I hate tarping!!!! I only carry 4' on my trailer. I would like a conistoga real bad but I think it would require a diffrent truck as well. I am having a hard time finding a coustemer that is worth the investment.

Ours just sits now. We had a dedicated chicago to east coast weekly with 7 to 12 stops that we lost a few months ago. The guy I'm leased to did it every week for 6 years. Sent us an email "your services are no longer required". I picked a load up out of there a couple of weeks ago off the board and they were loading a piece of junk with plastic Home Depot tarps for that run. The loaders were just shaking there heads. image.jpg

I'm seeing 7 to 8 mpg with my set up. Can only scale 48k though. We are 100% load board though and from what I've heard we're not getting much better rates then a regular flat. But you can't beat a 5 minute tarp job.
