If there's a local UPS dock they'll hold it for a fee...

First question; when you booked the load, was this info on the rate con, or did it have a delivery appt? If it changed in route, some one pays.

Second question; did you get receiver contact information? If so, Have you called them to confirm this delivery and the possible delay in off loading. If you have the name of the company, look it up on google and call them yourself. If no name, sometimes you can still look up the address and find the name on google or google maps.

Third question; Did you tell this broker you will need a new rate con with the appropriate charges for storage of the receivers product? It should cover all revenue lost.

Fourth question; If the broker is not going to pay for holding the truck, what arrangement will they provide to get the product in storage so your truck can move on. Also what will they be paying for this?

Last question; Are you in business to make money? If so you should be charging for the services being provided.

Never heard of that. Good to know.

The broker better get you a cross dock warehouse to go unload. I’d also be googling the receiver and calling them. Calling and finding warehouses, etc. Telling the broker you’ll need $1000/day otherwise.

1- no info. Delivery app for tomorrow 9am
2- No contact # for the receiver on the RACON.
3-Broker called me today telling me the receiver won't be there until Monday. I haven't ask for more money to the broker because my priority is to get empty and the hell out of there ASAP. The money that the broker could offer me won't even cover 20% of the total amount I loose by canceling loads.
4- Is not helping right now. No options. They do say that they will pay extra but I am sure it will be pocket change.
5- I am in the business of---- getting screwed by brokers, shippers, receivers, lumpers, factory, dispatchers, road emergency mechanics, etc... .

    Good to know.
Who will pay to get the load out of my trailer and store it? The broker, shipper, receiver or me?

The broker will who then in turn will charge the customer. Unless the broker messed up then it’s on them, who is trying to pawn it off on you.

Just because they are short handed is none of your concern. You are staffed just fine and have loads to haul. So they need to mitigate your potential damages.

Worst case you could pay for the cross dock and redelivery if your going to make more by getting into other loads but that’s far from fair.

Well first you need to get it together, put in detention time rates in your agreement with the broker and hold the broker to it.

I would also cancel the two loads and consider the load a refused delivery, take it back shipper ... no excuse about getting someone there to unload you,
