Dude, tattoo this^^^^ on your right hand. Had some imbecile of a woman go around a pilot car on a narrow bridge. Pilot car yells a warning to me. She stops when she realizes that she can't get by me. I wait for her to back up, but she's obstinate. My front car tries to talk to her, and I remember her saying something about being a social worker and needing to get by. I pull the brakes and fire up the Internet. She calls the cops. Cop shows up and she starts saying something about her rights, and that I have the bridge blocked. The bridge is almost a mile long and I was almost off it. I sit there glad that I left the law enforcement career behind. Noone has "rights" when it comes to driving. Driving is a privilege.
Far too many people use their cars as a bullying mechanism pulling the ole "Oh you won't hit me" It is nothing more than a power trip.
I was reminded by a friend of his adventure he had a while back, he had the same thing happen to him but he was in an intersection where there was the sensor pads in the road which told the computer what traffic was where. He said for some reason the light remained green on the road he was turning from and no light cycled so no one moved. He too refused to move an inch, the traffic was backed up for three or for long blocks until someone figured out to move their car so the ones in front could move out of his way.
Hell I had a similar situation in Louisiana, was going left out of a truck plaza across a busy highway, two other drivers had stopped and blocked traffic so I could go when I get a clear spot on the right, as I start my turn I get into the left lane check my mirror, and some idiot came whizzing up the center lane, well no way was I backing up, and he stopped and blew his horn at my trailer like he wasn't gonna budge, until I inches forward and got my tandems a half inch from his hood...I thought a cop would have ticketed on of us, but he was just laughing in his car
First off you should not have to encroach all the time when you take a corner if you have a open lane to your left prior to taking your turn use it check your mirrors swing out wide and pull into your number one lane without going into the oncoming lane there is no reason this cant be done unless you are going from single lane to single lane turn
You just gotta stick it out there and they will eventually move...you have just as much right to be on the roads as the 4 wheelers....dont be too concerned with the looks people seem to throw off...its all a joke...we all look goofy
A driver's true test is his patience. If they won't move simply wait. Then when the light turns green and they move you can do a right turn on red if it's allowed. You do what you have to do within reason. I have gone around the block before. Three left turns and you're there, lol. I had one old man in Melrose Park, IL I was making a right turn and he refused to move. He was making a left turn and could of easily made a left turn on green but he wanted the green arrow. He refused to move. His light turned green again with no arrow and he still didn't move. He sat there until the next green and finally figured he wasn't getting an arrow. I just waited him out. Pops was on drugs or something.
