that's the "better thing" to do. have an appointment, or call in sick or say your car has a dead battery and you're waiting for the auto club, which will be about 4 hours
what to tell your current job if a potential job wants a road test?

Just have to hope the road test route doesn't cross paths with any of his coworkers.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
after they run the MVR and offer a road test, i will try very hard to see if they can do it on a saturday. as far as unemployment goes, its almost impossible to get it if you quit. i got fired from a job once (non-CDL) without "just cause" and i got it. my former employer tried to fight it and lost the case, it took longer but i did get it. as it stands when he said that friday (rotten dirty words) i likey could have quit and received it, i would have had just cause, because he created a hostile workplace by saying what he said. proving it would be the hard part, no witnesses; which is the only time he speaks like that. he would never say those things over the company radio. either on the cell phone OR in person when there is no one else around. i did not quit because i want to remain employed. remember im still in a truck and driving, i drove today.
when i went to fill out the application today they asked me why i wanted to leave. i told the woman interviewing me what he had said, well not exactly ( i said motherfbomb). they knew exactly how he is and werent surprised to hear that.
my boss's reputation is quite poor. i have spoken with other drivers with other companies, everyone knows who he is and how he speaks to and treats employees. how flattering.
as far as DAC, i have NOTHING to worry about. he has probably a dozen or fewer trucks. the man thoroughly rejects technology and still uses a flip phone. he is highly critical of my use of a GPS even though i use a truck GPS app (sygic truck) that gives me all appropriate bridge clearances and weight restrictions. i can almost guarantee he does not use DAC.
without the GPS how does he expect me to find places i have never been, and quickly? he doesnt want me to take the time a use a map LOL. GPS has its place IF you look at where its taking you and dont follow it blindly. -
And here I was hoping I would not have to see more drama from the op until Saturday, when he normally comes out..
