ive been working for public works dept. for 13 years,im getting worn out from physical laboring for so long, havent had a contract in 6 years now the house and senate are trying to get rid of unions for state and public employees in my state (new hampshire) if that happens they could make us "at will" employees and pay us minumum wages and no insurance.i've allways wanted to do trucking for many years and for the last couple years have done my research.i think my best option to start is prime's student program.my biggest worry is quiting my current job because its a steady paycheck but thats all it is.i just have to take that leap if i want to pursue trucking but nervous. anyone out there feel like there in my shoes? goodluck to all!

6 years USAF.. stationed at NORAD/USSPACE Command in Cheyenne Mountain over 5.5 years doing communications support for senior military officers.

Separated from the AF and worked private security at a hospital until I got my degrees in Criminal Justice and information technology. Worked as a Deputy Sheriff in detentions and was a city street cop over 3 years, then just got tired of the bull crap that comes with the job and sought a career change

Turned to team driving with my wife for 2 years in late 2008, tried to come off the road and was a DM for 3 months in 2010 before I returned to solo driving. Am now an owner op and love it.

Very interesting thread. OK, five years in the Marine Corps followed by five years as a police officer. I left police work and drove truck for eight years. I then returned to being a police officer which is what I've been doing the last eight years as well as driving part time pulling a tanker picking up milk at the farms and running to the dairies. Some day I'll be back in a truck full time.
