that depends on the type of snow as well heavy wet snow at say 32degreess outside its gonna stick no matter what i would turn the defrost on 0 degrees outside light snowflakes (the kind that blows around a lot in the wind) try to keep your windshield cold and you wont even need your wipers. the snow will just blow around the windsheild

Why? I never tried Rain-X, what is the downside of Rain-X?

Rain-X does it's job. It prevents things from sticking to the windows.

I don't like how the wipers "smear" more after I get Rain-X applied to the truck.

At speeds over 30 MPH when air flows are really starting to matter, especially at highway speeds, you can see the water bead up more and flow off the window.

Below 30 MPH, I don't see that and the wipers don't "squeegee" the glass nearly as well as they are designed to.

    passport220 Thanks this.

Windsheld wipers are cheap. Just buy two or three sets and carry them with you. Anco blades seem to be about the best value.

When it comes to Rain-X, I use the windshild washer fluid but not the normal stuff that you wipe on.

I use the winter blades all year, keeps the crap from getting in the pivot joints. you can get heavier springs for the arms as well which will hold them really tight to the windshield. The factory ones are junk and you will get some lifting in high winds and rain. My dash is usually covered with cat and paperwork the defrosters are never used like some others have said keeps the windshield from getting iced up when sittng.

Angle of your windsheid is a crucial point. Rain X is an every few days app. Works for some, others not. depends on how many times you want to lift the hood. Or step on the bumper I guess. Some are lazy, some are not. Your driving a class 8 truck, hundreds of miles a day, Not a Toyota 80 miles a week.

My Rain X normally lasted over a month. It's kind of a pain to apply. It takes patience trying to get it not to smear. Castrol made a similar product that went on an easy as spray on wax, but I haven't noticed it in stores for awhile.

I also just use the Rain-x washer fluid. It dosen't get that nozzle clogging chalk build-up like the blue stuff does. Worth the xtra money. Also helps with minor ice/slush build up.

The green bug wash from Prestone will freeze in winter, at least in a car. That was a pain ! Really didn't help remove bugs any better either.
