    They still need a certain amount of PC. Wait a minute, I may be wrong about that, considering the Homeland Security laws now! I can tell you that the search and seizure laws in California changed with every decision made on them by the idiots on the 12th Circuit Court.

    There you have two choices. Let them search, or refuse to go on their property! Of course if you're a company driver and refuse, you're going to be in trouble with your company.
    Again though, having a weapon in your sleeper just means it is in a place where even YOU may not be able to get to it, should you actually NEED it.

    if it were me, i'd hold onto it for a long, long time.

    it may be the most your fancy ever got tickled.

    Border crossings are a different story. In that case, I can see it.

    Otherwise, domestic LEO's have no reason to search anything beyond the cargo area without PC or a warrant.

    Again, different story. The reason being there is that shippers are private property, thus they have that right.

    You're having "nothing to hide" denotes the most slippery slope in the history of man. Those three words can be manipulated to justify just about anything under the sun.

    For that reason, had I been in your position I would absolutely NOT have consented to any search. Besides, if they have to ask, they certainly don't have any PC.

    It depends on the state and whether that state has reciprocity with your CCL. I have an AR CCL - I do carry in m truck, but it adds a step to my trip planning. If I'm running into NY, NJ, IL, etc., I have to go the lockbox route and strip the mags and ammo. Do your research and get legal advice from a lawyer familiar with firearms regs. - which is what I did and I keep his card in my wallet and his number on speed dial (as per his instructions) just in case.

    I don't recall him asking, he said something along the lines of.. I'm going to give you an inspection and I'm going search your cab too.. it was not a border crossing.. it was a random road side inspection in Texas.

    I used to haul into several nuclear power plants. Your truck was searched from top to bottom, inside and out. Cab, sleeper, everywhere. And depending on where in the plant your were delivering to you were accompanied by a very serious man toting a fully automatic weapon the entire time.
