On the original YouTube video, a commenter has said the customer he came out of is that huge ### driveway to his left. He could have just backed up....
Not to his defense, but when people do #### up. Your body goes through a chemical reaction and your pupils dilate, adrenaline starts pumping, your heart rate increases, and sweaty palms.
You'll get tunnel vision essentially and you won't see the obvious answer and easy way out.
Unless you handle stress easily, this driver I don't think wrecked the truck because he's an idiot, I believe he did so because in his mind he had only one thought and that was to get out of his situation. So he was probably new and didn't have many stressful situations in their life prior to trucking.
For you young drivers, you get yourself in a pickle, relax, take some deep breaths or get out the truck and smoke a cigarette and walk around assessing the problem.
Cars honking up your ###, tell em to try and play twinkle little star with their horn. Just clear your mind and look around for the best way out.
Everything will always work out when your calm and open minded and can take in everything around you.
What would you do if you missed the low bridge sign?

Bridges that look low but are unmarked always make me cringe, first thought that goes through my head did I not see a clearance sign? then I just stare down the lane and listen for the crunch.

I think the way the mega carriers spec their trucks with low horsepower was part of the problem. With adequate horsepower I'm sure he could have completed the 120° u-turn with ease AND been at least 1000 lbs lighter.tinytim and Blackshack46 Thank this. -

This video has made the rounds here and even on the non-truck related forums.
Whenever I see videos of this guy and others who have had bad work days, it kind of inspires me to want to do a "WHERE ARE THEY NOW" series compilation of recordings.
From drivers that have had costly accidents, to that McDonalds worker in Minneapolis that blew up on shift.
I just think it would be nice to clear the air and see if they turned themselves around for better or for worse.Hick, Blackshack46 and daf105paccar Thank this.
