DOT is the only one I would consider. They are a private company hauling mostly their own freight. Paid for everything you do, from live loading/ D&H to being out for more than eight days and doing a 34 on the road.

Swift may be as good as any to give you a restart. I did 6 months with them over 5 years ago after being off the road over 11 years. They made me do 200 hours with a trainer. Swift was a terrible company to drive for. It did give me what I needed, so it was worth it.

The big thing is to keep your nose clean and wiggle up the ladder. There were 2 other common carriers after that. I now drive for a private fleet that is fantastic. It was all worth it to get where I am now.

Wow I didn't know that about DOT, that is good. I see their trucks quite a bit OTR. Is it no touch freight there?

Swift has a terminal in Decatur, right outside Atlanta.

And from what I have seen there are only 2 reasons Swift might be a bad company to work for.
    1. A rotten bad DM.
    2. A rotten bad driver.

If you don't get along with your DM you can always request a different one.
I have had a dozen in the 10 years I have been here and all my DM's have been good.
Well, there was one where both of us wasn't that thrilled with the other, but it didn't cause any problems between us. We just had differing styles.

Do they have to touch the freight do you know? I don't want to derail OP's thread I can search I think I saw a DOT thread in the Favorite Companies section one time. I don't remember if they said they had to touch the freight though.
