What would you do in this scenario?

I was at a base of a pass about to go uphill with a heavy load that will put me at 35mph. There are four lanes and I am are in lane 3 (2nd from the right). A vehicle to the right in front of me in lane 4 cuts me off and goes into lane 2 to my left. I had to slow down so I don't rear end him. I speed up to gain momentum and a while later he goes in front of me and slows down so I have to slow down. I decided to go right into lane 4 but couldn't get enough speed to pass him. However once I started building speed he would go in front of me then slow down. I still got a good ways to climb uphill but I'm almost getting to the point of the harder climb so I decided to go left into lane 3 in the hopes of passing this #######. Again I couldn't get pass him and there was a faster truck behind me so I decided to go back into lane 4 out of courtesy. The ####### slowed down enough that I had to slow down and my truck was lugging at 25 mph instead of 35 mph. I also noticed his face was looking at his left mirrors as though he was checking on me. When I was at 25mph he sped off like a #######.

I'm just wondering if there was a better way I could have dealt this. I want to be prepared next time this kind of thing happens again. What would you have done in this scenario?

 

Film it and notify the state toopers with the evidence.
You can call the state troopers while you're filming it. A forward facing camera is a big plus in these situations.

 

Unfortunately I didn't have a dash cam with me. I couldn't read his license plate or the company he works for. It is some red construction-looking pvehicle with that red little crane at the back. Probably a tow-away vehicle

 

I owned my truck so I would have pushed him up the hill.



Maybe that's why I don't drive any more.

Sounds like a Jack.ss.Im Sure he Knew Exactly what he was doing.After he "cut me off a couple times...Courtesy would have went out the window. I would have been angry,used Flashers,airhorn and high beams...whatever I could to make his antics less easy.

 

Smart answer is slowing down and staying far from him.

Excellent post, it's one of the reason's I stopped driving.( always wanted to do that, in 35 years, never did)
M T, 2 words pal, dash,,,cam. In MY day, the trucks I drove were so slow on hills, aggravated, revenge seeking 4 wheelers lost interest, at 20 mph. Probably cracked their windshield, and somehow, hassling you is going to make it right. Just back way off, and get a dash camera, now!

 

You're gonna deal with idiots everyday.... at least that one sped off after making an ### of himself, could have been worse. You did the right thing, you didn't hit him.

 

Stay you butt in the right lane if your heavy. It's called courtesy. If I'm heavy I'm in the right lane up a grade no matter what, I would rather myself have to slow down a little for someone slower than to slow down everyone else who isn't heavy. Most of the time 4 lane climbs are trucks 2 right lanes only anyway, idk why buts seems everytime there is a truck lane restriction every slow inconsiderate d-bag seems to move left and force passing on the right.

 

This is one of those situations where a hood mounted .50 caliber would come in handy. Rid the world of his pathetic existence.
