A married couple team driving Monday through Friday. Bring home $1,900.00 a week. Tell him to quite being greedy that's a great gig they have there!!
I'm with Mercer, and as I said in a previous post, I am doing just under 2 bucks on all miles. Was better a year ago, but this market effects everyone, not just guys working the spot market. I have friends at landstar doing just as well. And I'm sure there are other companies. Bennett and Daily come to mind.
Change the lane u running, try chicago to NE and dont book freight a week in advance unless is a good rate.cheap freight is always available.
One household vs two you can't compare the two. And why shouldn't a guy get what he feels he's worth. Complacency is what's wrong with the industry now, everybody wants to run for bare minimum just to pay bills. Not everyone was born to just pay bills and die.
I didn't say anything about his bills!! $1,900 a week after taxes is good money! If he feels he's worth more that's fine. He is free to go to work somewhere else!
I promise there is another team out there that will do that 5 days for that money and be home every weekend!!
"Did I get this right? You are saying you want a 25% increase in compensation, from $1,200 to $1,500 per week? Or you're going to quit? I have it right? OK, we're in agreement. You're not getting the increase, you're not getting any increase, so I guess you might as well leave right now." My response. May be a little Draconic, but a problem solved leaves fresh ground for the new solution. Any way you can get another 1,000-1,500 more miles/week, Mike? Like Road Dirt mentioned, you'll find a new team.
And there is another team that will run it even cheaper than that team. Doesn't mean you want the lowest labor to be representing your company at your customers dock.
He didnt say a married team. 1 driver is married and brings home 1000 a week and second driver brings home 900 a week prob. Filing single. I understand the drivers need, florida is very expensive to live. But the Op has a business to run. If he can keep up with overhead nobody gets paid. And thats where company drivers forget that you make the company money but the company has to pay for fuel ins. Tolls maintainance driver pay...etc. Hopefully you get some better rates and try and get your cpmdown so everyone is happy. And a team at only 4000 mile 5 days out there is alot of layover in there you should look into maybe adding some loads while guys are out.
