Around here sometimes you get lucky and brand new high amp Delco alternators are like brake chambers. You walk in a dealer or truck parts house and the have pallets of them stacked on the floor selling for flea market prices. Lol ! Last one I got was a 180 amp for $80 at Rush Pete about 6 years ago. French-Ellison Kw had same deal and price a couple years ago when I was there getting something else. Thought about buying a spare one for my shelf but didn’t.

At those prices I would buy a spare. The one parts house I know is off all next week and can’t get it until the 14th. Most places are on a 3 day weekend starting today. I’ll start looking Monday

Don’t forget advance auto since they bought out carquest. I bought a starter with no core charge. Orielly’s also has truck parts.

I went into our TruckPro last summer and they had 3 pallets of group 31 studded Dekra 1000cca batteries for $50 each on the floor. Place smelled strong of battery acid. The guys were talking about how they will be so happy to get them gone. They said they sold one whole pallet to a fleet down the street and they still had 4 more in the back.

Ok changing the alternator....Unhook the batteries first right? Then take the cables off the alternator?

I just take the grounds off. No need to completely unhook them.
Another thought is that unless you have a battery powered apu,I don’t see why you can’t get by with a 150ish amp alternator.

Yes. Other wise that cable on the back of the alt can become an arc welder.

I thought that. But it being a glider I prefer to go with what was on there. Ive got a Fridge and plenty of chicken lights that's about it. The parts house had one that was 170.
