Had a friend that had the same choices as you. He was looking at a w9 , but was very partial to old COE Pete's. Found a Pete with big chrome straight pipes, big breathers, stretched frame, big Texas bumper, aluminum wheels...the works. Steal of a deal for $10 grand.

He goes out to get the truck, and he finds out that the owner pulled the 8 inch straight pipes off and put a single pipe. Also, he pulled the wheels and tires off and put steel wheels and bad treads on. And he took out every LED light.

My buddy was disappointed, but because of the price, he bought it anyway, because that's his dream truck (not a starter truck).

So, 3 years later, my buddy is trying to drive a company truck, and get time to work on his truck, and put money into the truck to get it road worthy. Quite a few companies will take the truck, but they won't take spring ride, so he's saving right now to get the back half of a newer truck put on. I recommended that when he does this, to cut the wheelbase down. He's going to run into difficulties trying to run a 300 inch wb cab over.

I know you like old iron (I do too), and I know you like turning wrenches (I do too). My problem is, when I turn wrenches, my income STOPS!

Find an old w9, with an E model, (2WS), an RTLO18913A, and either 3:55s or the common gear for that period was 3:70. Make sure it's ready to work instead of ready to be worked on.

    Bigchevy Thanks this.
