What's up with the push for so many new drivers?

    The economy is improving, there is more freight flowing, the number of unemployed looking for work is huge - and in that huge number are some that can't stay away from, um, controlled substances - and CSA 2010 tightened up the hiring requirements a bunch. A trucking company has to have many more apply than will make it just to fill their seats. Plus most of those who start on Day One do not make the first year. They either leave, get fired, or move to another job or career.

    Never have heard from a Crete driver as to why they are pushing for new drivers.

    Sio many new drivers? Because they make 10 cents or more less than those of us who have been here.

    Second hand info. New company driver with Schaefer says when he was leased there, was busy. Now as a company man just got his first message about excessive idling.
