From a pay phone no doubt. LOL

I'm old enough to have used a pay phone by dropping an actual dime in it. However, I was not aware Comdata offered that, having started in this business only 11 years ago when credit cards were already universally accepted everywhere.
And I already know you're old enough to have used a nickel pay phone. Being a relatively recent entry to trucking myself, I could see how this set of circumstances would be extremely rare for the carrier to have already set up more payment options. You and mack on the other hand, started out before there were more convenient ways to pay someone remotely, so were never dependent on them to begin with.

Well they did, guess its been a few years. The great state of ichigan only accepted cash or check. Idk if they take cards yet.

So call in and get a comcheck with company credit card so you could bond out and leave.

I've had a couple of bosses I would have done that for but it never came up. They were responsible enough not to let it happen.
Most of the people I worked for I would not have spent my own money.
LOL...PIE Tank Lines still owes me 35 bucks from 1972 because I submitted the request for reimbursement 1 day after the cut off point which was 48 hours.

Brings to mind a funny memory. Not the same context, as it involved a leading tech company, and expenses that wouldn't even merit a rounding error on their annual report.

Late 2007 I did a phone interview for a job I really didn't want. But there were signs of recession looming, and I took the interview to pursue more stable employment. I took the call in my pickup, while I was out shopping for cargo trailers. My performance was lackluster. As I said, the job wasn't what I liked doing. I didn't care.

I got the job because they wanted me to attend a meeting in Munich the following Monday. My #1 qualification was: I had a valid passport and a credit card to pay expenses for a week in Germany. I don't even think the interview mattered to them after that was discovered. They were able to purchase and supply the plane ticket, but there wasn't enough time to issue a company expense card.

The best part of that trip was when I returned. Since my manager was in NC, I had to visit her boss here in Atlanta to show ID and get the I-9 completed. He recognized me. A VP two levels up, remembered seeing me on the return flight, sitting in 1st class (points upgrade) as he walked to his seat at the rear of the plane. I didn't remember him. That was awkward LOL.

I remained at that company for 4 years and resigned when it became clear the day job was cutting into my trucking business attention needs.

Simple answer, yes. Stevens was VERY good to me and went out of there way to treat me right. Even footing over 600 to fedrex to get my belongings back to me when I went down with this cancer.

The laborer is worthy of his hire. If the guy had to wait to be paid through no fault of his own it seems to me reasonable he'd want to be recompensed, after all its time he could have used to go fix some other unprepared dope working for another sketchy company that doesn't pay bills in the dark surely? But if a mobile mechanic really only charged 400 extra for 5 hours of being messed about I'd say that was cheap money.

I have a few drivers and O/O's that will never call to have a repair paid, just turn in a receipt. And one's that would call for a $5 efs code.

Could be the mechanic's fault. Don't know about that truck, but FYI if your Cascadia has a DD15 you must never reuse the fuel lines coming out of the high pressure side of the fuel pump. The metal is very thin. They are single use only and may burst if you use them again.

Today I was a victim of extortion.

    It was traumatizing.

I was waiting patiently behind a few drivers to purchase a few items at a Petro. The line was moving slowly, more slowly than usual. I thought I would starve to death so I opened the snickers bar I was planning to eat later and I ate the whole thing. I presented the empty wrapper, to the cashier, I was careful to leave the bar code intact.

Get this, she charged me full price !!! For just the wrapper !!!

I would have died of starvation if I didnt eat it because the line was so slow !

Can I stop payment. Can I sue them?
